Hi, i do not know if i a writing in the right forum but, i was wandering if anyone would know what camera is used to film the smallville series, and perhaps what editing suite they use.
Very, very grateful for any replies

I'd guess film with DI since a lot of higher end shows with bigger budgets have been film up until recently.
Only a guess but i did look up some stuff about shoor locations and came up with this.

The shot with the swat cop guy clearly shows a panavision 35mm film camera. Plus you could watch the end credits and they might show the camera manufacturer, something like "filmed with panavision lenses and cameras"

"Super 35mm, threeperf, with a Panavision Millennium package, using primo zoom lenses"
from http://www.looksmartclassical.com/p/articles/mi_m0HNN/is_10_19/ai_n7070181
so definetly film and a lot of it

I'm pretty sure it's cut on Avid.

That info is pretty old now though.
I'm pretty sure that for last season and the current season they've been shooting in HD rather than film. There was a cover article on the process in Post magazine last year.
I'll see if I can dig that up anywhere for more details....
EDIT: Nevermind ....
The pipeline is all HD ..... after they shoot 35mm as per the links Kieth provided earlier.
