I imported three mp3s in iTunes, converted them to AIF files at 48.k, and dropped them into a FCP 4.5 project.
Two of them are hiccuping,for lack of a better description, during playback in the timeline and in the viewer.
Also, there are visible 1-3 frame breaks in continuity in the timeline. aznd viewer. I have imported/exported/re-imported at both 44.k and 48.k,
printed timeline to taped, exported as a quicktime movie, etc, all to no avail.
The glitches remain.
Is this some kind of anti-piracy technology?
I've not had this trouble before.
It's Metallica and a Wild Thornberry's soundtrack cut, if that helps.
I have already edited to the music, so it will be a real drag if I cant use it.

If you haven't already, try converting them to AIFF in iTunes. This is what I use and it works great.

>Go to iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Importing
>Change MP3 Encoder to AIFF Encoder
>Right-click (control-click) the song file in iTunes Library
>Select "Convert Selection to AIFF"

After it has converted the file:
>Select the newly created song in iTunes Library (should appear below the MP3 version)
>Right-click and choose "Show Song File"
>Move or copy the file to your Desktop or FCP project folder, whichever you prefer
>Import the new AIFF version of the song directly into FCP bin, and it should work great

For some reason I must have not read closely and thought that you had done the conversion from MP3 to AIFF in FCP rather than in iTunes.

Have you had any other issues surrounding audio in FCP?

Do you have any audio editing programs to experiment with conversion? If not I'm sure there are demo versions out there of such programs as Sound Studio.

Hey Zack,
No other problems and in fact the 3rd song done the same way works great.
The songs I'm having trouble with do have quick breaks in them and thats where FCP is hanging up.
I am going to try the tedious task of splicing the breaks out and hope that it is not noticiable on playback.
I cant think of any other way to tackle this.
Oh yeah, all play back is set at the highest levels, so thats not it either.
