May I suggest Edius Procoder? I am in PAL land and when I have to make NTSC version, Procoder can re-interpretate it on the fly and make it...so far its worked perfectly.....so I would think it would do the same from NTSC to PAL

I am using Canopus Procoder 2. Turns just about anything into just about anything else. Embedded in my NLE too which is nice.

It seems that all PAL DVD players will play both PAL and NTSC DVD's as long as there is no zone rating on the DVD.

Most TV's can handel both signals now days.

NTSC players will not play PAL disks though.

Not all Pal players. The newer ones will typically play NTSC disks as well as TV sets but you can't count on it if you are releasing commercially.

I'm in the UK and our PAL VCRs and DVD players and Mini DV camcorders have all been able to play NTSC recordings for very many years. I agree that if you're planning to sell DVDs commercially then getting them re-encoded to PAL is a good idea, but it isn't strictly necessary.

What's interesting is that my home burnt PAL DVDs are playable by my brother in NTSC Canada. He had to go to Radio Shack and buy himself a cheap Chinese DVD player as his posh Sony reported 'No Disc', but he informs me that my discs replay 'perfectly' through his NTSC TV.

I wish I could see what he means by 'perfectly'. I wonder if the frame rate differences (25 to 30) make for slight stutters, and what happens to the extra 95 picture lines in every one of my frames? I question him about this and he assures me no picture info is lost, and colours are converted to colors.
