I'm doing more song mixing and mastering lately, and I have a client who recorded a bunch of stuff in the 70's and 80's, and I'm trying to find the best nr solution.
I run Nuendo and there is a fairly decent de noiser in the "restoration" pull down, but I'd like to try something more versatile. I've heard good things about Sony nr 2. Anybody using it?
Thanks

I use Noise Reduction 2 with Sound Forge, works extremely well. In the bundle you also get Clipped Peak Restoration which I'd use about once a week to salvage camera audio that's gone more than a bit over the top.

Probably the only better NR tool around comes from Sony's Oxford division, haven't used it myself although I'd like to, just a tad expensive for the work I do. It's advantage is it can track a noise source that's frequency is shifting.

Also in the SF bundle are tools for removing clicks etc from vinyl, work very well.

Bob,
Thank for the reply.I actually do my mastering etc., in Wavelab (Steinbergs' version of Soundforge). I want to try nr 2.0. I have some good tools for removing clicks and pops, but the Oxford edition which you mentioned sounds interesting.

Anyone know if Sony nr 2.0 is available without having to buy Soundforge ( which I don't need since I use wavelab)?

This may be obvious, if it is sorry.

Sony Noise Reduction 2.0 also works within Vegas.

Check our sponsor Videoguys for the best price on the internet. I use it on other forum member's recommendation. It is not a cure clean recording, but it can fix stuff to acceptable levels (like wind noise, generators, etc.)
