Hi,
I have a Sony Digital 8 camera and it has digital image stabilization. I was watching my video today with the image stabilization on and I saw the lines that come with the digital image stabilization. So then I thought I should turn the image stabilization off to get rid of those nasty lines which blur the video and make it look ugly (especially for web export). But then I thought my video would look shakey. And THEN I thought I should ask the trusty forum! So here I am asking you all: If you have digital image stabilization and not optical should you leave it on or off? Thanks!

If you have a steady enough hand, image stabilization shouldn't make much of a difference. I suggest you try shooting some footage with it off and see how it looks.. also, you definitely don't need it on if you're using a tripod.

I would suggest to leave it off in wide angle shots and "on"in zoomed in mode. Keep in mind that electronic image stabilisation automatically sets your cam on a higher (1/120sec?) shutter speed which reduces your cam's low light performance.
