what's the best way to render out HDV or DVCproHD as dvd mpeg for authoring....which programs can do this with the best quality output?

It's me again... I see nobody answered your question. Allow your BROTHER IN DVINFODOM to help you....

Since I can't smoke a peace pipe with you for using the word "Asian", allow me to apologize by helping you out:

I have a feeling you are a MAC user. I may be wrong. if I am, please correct me. If you are in fact a MAC user, then hands down the best program to use is DVD STUDIO PRO 3. Final Cut Pro comes with a program called "COMPRESSOR" that can be used to convert your Final FCP project to an Mpeg2 ready for DVD buring. I do NOT suggest you use this Compressor program. Instead, for the best quality DVD, render the project using the compressing engine that comes built in DVD Studio Pro. Be sure to use a CONSTANT bit rate. Variable bit rates can sometimes look cheesy during high action scenes. Constant Bit rates are high quaility at all times. and BE SURE to do a '2-pass' render. This ensures the encoding is done most efficiently.

Now...if you're on PC....the answer is simple.....

VEGAS 6.0c and ARCHITECT 3 baby!!!!!

Nice piece of advice there.
I am on a mac, and I also use Studio pro & FCP! But do you have a good recipe for saving for the Web? in 16:9?
