Hello
I can get a good deal on one of these microphones i have a choice of getting the Sennheiser MKE Shotgun 300 or the Rode VideoMic Shotgun, which one would you recommend i go for?
Thanks for the input

I have only used the Rode Videomic, but I would recommend that over the Sennheiser for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is about half the price. Secondly, it includes a built-in shock mount which is very useful, especially if you're using it on top of a camcorder (it is also boom mountable). The videomic also has a buzz filter in it to stop low buzzes; I've not used it yet but I could imagine it being very useful.
I think that both mics would give you very good quality, but I'm very impressed with the results from the Rode.

Jim,
I haven't used the Sennheiser MKE300 for about 10 years, but I bought one way back when based on Sennheiser's reputation. It was no better than the built in mic on my home camcorder. I returned it and bought something else. I would pass on it. Don't know anything about the Rode.
Have fun!
