Hey all! We just got some footage in from a crew in London and we need to get it into our system. We are using an XL2 into FCP HD through firewire. I've tried changing settings in the Log & Capture window, but nothing seems to play the footage. Is there any work around?? Thanks!

Can you play the video back from the camera? Are your import settings correct? It shouldn't matter on the computer because it has all of those different settings for importing footage. Also, if the footage was shot on a PAL camera and you are trying to import through a NTSC camera, I don't think that will work.

I'm actually trying to do something similar (but involving VHS-C PAL and importing it without a firewire), so I'm interested in hearing the workaround.

You will have to rent a PAL DV deck to capture the PAL footage. And you will probably have to use a specific software to convert the footage from pal to ntsc (look here: http://www.dvfilm.com/atlantis/index.htm).

Thanks! Sure wish there was a cheaper way. But great link to the software and your help is much, much appreciated...
