anyone know anything about this box? from the small amount of info i've found so far it looks like by far the best recording option, among other things it has an hd-sdi input and can write to HDcam, DVCproHD, SD formats and something called jpeg 2000 and can work with PAL or NTSC, so you could shoot in just about any format for any country off of one camera and recorder, it's also build by the folks that brought us the Viper Filmstream.

anyone know anything about it other than that?

I have seen one in the flesh, I think it's been around for a while, seem to recall it being rather expensive and not at all portable. Have you looked at the Cineform / Wafian box?

it's not supposed to be available until first guarter 06 so maybe you confused it with something else unless there was a prototype at a convention.

it appears to be about the size of a breadbox and is supposed to be field capable

You are talking about the Grass Valley Inifinity Camcorder and Rev Pro storage system. Not shipping yet but looks quite sweet. Looking for it to demo at lafcpug if they agree to no Power Point or KeyNote.

One is a camera, the other sounds like a recording medium, and not a recording device. Are you sure you two talking about the same thing?

Oh... I didn't read far enough...Du huh!
