What am I doing wrong?

1) I purchased the JVC GY-HD100 and filmed 20 hours of my film at 24fps.
2) Then when I tried to import my video into my Mac (Final Cut Pro), I did not find a preset for 24HD
3) I was the told that I need athrid party software like Lumiere or HDVxDV to capture and then export it to QT and import the QT into FCP.
4) I did that but the reuslts are so bad, worse than normal resolution.

Questions :

1) Is the approach right?
2) Do I need a special hard disk?
3) Do I need some adjustments on the camera/software?
4) Do I use Non-Drop frames or Drop Frames.
5) What are the presets if ant?

I would say from personal experience your best bet right now is HDVxDV 1.024. LumiereHD 1.6b2 is just too buggy and complicated. The results are quite good with HDVxDV if you use the Apple Intermediate Codec and set the resolution to 1280x720. Download the free trial from their website and try it out.

However, the exported files are true 24fps, so you will need to "Batch Conform" the new clips to 23.98 with Cinema Tools.
