Some Questions:

Monitoring:
Can anyone give me there preferances about interface monitoring? One large, like 23 0r 24 inch W/S Lcd panal or two smaller, like 19 inch panals?

Hard Drive requirements.
With the hard drive requirements of Ciniform being larger than the native HDV format, what would be the minimum Hard Drive space needed for 15min. finished program length, with a 5:1 shooting ratio? Simple edits and dissolves and no spl. effects.

Raid configurations.
Does a two drive 250GB ea. raid 0 set up equal 250GB or 500GB of actual storage?
Would a raid 10 configuration give one peace of mind over data los any bettert than any other raid configuration? If so what would be the requirements in order to achieve 500GB of usable storage?

Thankyou,

Gary

If you have two 250Gig drives in a RAID array, they will 'report' to your operating system as a single 500Gig disk. With only two disks in the array, you don't have much choice for mode type. If you want redundancy with performance, you need three disks minimum. SATA doesn't offer as many RAID modes as SCSI, but SATA is a hell of a lot cheaper.

A 500Gig (2x250Gig physical drives) SATA RAID array is plenty big enough for what you ask.

Monitoring? How much free desk space you got? Cash? What do you require the second monitor for? Checking edits within a broadcast colour space? R/T previewing? And so on, and on... figure those things out and then the choice of monitoring you need should crystalize...
