Wedding videographers: Which has proven more effective for you -- print ads, or bridal shows? Which offers the better return on investment? I've been shooting weddings for two years and need to kick the marketing up a few notches if I want to move beyond hobby status. I can't afford to stay in "business" if things don't improve.

I've noticed that the videographers who are getting all the business in my market are the ones who advertise in print, so I'm considering spending $100/month to run a quarter-page ad. The big directory here has an annual circulation of 60,000 and a good lead system for advertisers. I don't have the budget for a January bridal show AND a print ad, so I need to determine which is the best investment.

Thanks in advance for your insights.

As Wee Willie Keeler once said, "hit 'em where they ain't."

While either may work I've thought that marketing where the competition is heaviest is not always the best notion.

Think about where brides might be looking but your competition isn't advertising. This requires some research. Dress Makers, Florists for example. Develop personal relationships with the business and maybe they'll keep your brochure on hand.
