Steven Gotz July 31st, 2006, 02:55 PM It wants Flash Player 9. I suggest going to the Adobe site and getting it instead, just to make sure. But remember even they want to add Yahoo Toolbar, so uncheck that box. After Flash Player 9 is installed, the MySpace stuff works OK. Derek Weiss July 31st, 2006, 10:21 PM Not a waste of time at all. Very funny. Cool tunes. Clement Chan August 1st, 2006, 08:14 AM http://youtube.com/watch?v=PYO6lK6COWs this film is submitted for a contest, hope to also get some feedbacks from everyone! thanks! Sheldon Blais August 1st, 2006, 11:24 AM I thought it was a funny spoof of the lame poker broadcasts.....I bust out laughing at the sprinkler scene.....Good editing, poor lighting.... Clement Chan August 1st, 2006, 12:37 PM ya..we had limited light resources .. but thanks for the comments Dino Santoro August 1st, 2006, 06:12 PM I completed this film in 48 hours for the Toronto Film Challenge: http://dinosantoro.com/Movie%201.html I'd appreciate any feedback. There's another film on the site that I made in 24 hours. Dino Santoro August 3rd, 2006, 06:10 AM Guess I should have warned that it's about 8 minutes long. Bennis Hahn August 5th, 2006, 08:19 AM Hey, Began production last weekend on a short we are trying to get done before all of us go off to college. (probably not going to happen). Anyway, I am cataloging our escapades through this movie, along with some BTS pics and grabs here: refuge homepage (http://www.sprocketpictures.com/refuge/refuge.htm). And here are the grabs with no CC: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Kyle-Conor-1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Conor-3.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Kyle-Sawyer-1-1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Conor-Sick-3-Asprin-1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Kyle-1-1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/BennisHahn/Sawyer-2-1.jpg Brian Liloia August 5th, 2006, 08:24 AM ..Well, it's coming soon to one festival (and one DVD publication), at least. ¡Sí, Se Puede! (http://sisepuede.small-scale.net/) I wrapped up work on this documentary in May of this year, but it has just recently gained some recognition. Focusing on the stories of two everyday undocumented citizens currently working in the US, ¡Sí, Se Puede! is a short documentary highlighting the immigration reform issues debated within the United States. The doc is also featured on Volume 4 of The Journal of Short Film (http://www.thejsf.org/), releasing August 8. It was also recently accepted to the Newburyport Documentary Film Festival (http://www.newburyportfilmfestival.org/). The doc was produced with no budget, using a Canon GL-2 (primary cam) and an XL-1. It took approximately two months to complete. Joey Taylor August 5th, 2006, 11:37 AM Camera wise, it was an alright documentary. It was informative, but wasn't highly entertaining when it came to cinematography IMHO. Also, your documentary says that all people should be treated the same, no matter what color or race or religion or WHATEVER. But the problem that I think you missed is the fact that we do treat people the same. Anyone can break the law, whether white or black or mexican or asian. Illegal immigrants want the same rights as Americans. They can have those rights, as long as they enter the country legally. To come here illegally, and ask for rights (and etc) would be like someone from the US going into Mexico illegally and demanding free healthcare and not to be deported. The immigration laws in Mexico are VERY strict. In your documentary, the man said he is illegal, but not a criminal. I have much sympathy for the man and the millions of other Mexicans because the current state of the country of Mexico is aweful. I just did a missions trip to build a house for a family near Tijuana and it is horrible. Besides the sympathy, I feel that America is being blamed for the problems in Mexico. Instead of demanding rights that could be theirs if they entered legally, undocumented people should demand rights from Mexico, rather than blame the US. Bennis Hahn August 5th, 2006, 09:43 PM Day two is up. http://www.sprocketpictures.com/refuge/refuge-blog2.htm Zack Vohaska August 5th, 2006, 11:18 PM Those are some good-looking screengrabs! I haven't checked out your website yet, but I will after I finish this post. The footage you guys took is beautiful! If these pictures are any indication of the entire production of the movie, I'd say from a visual standpoint, you all did a great job. How'd you light your shots? Joey Taylor August 8th, 2006, 01:50 AM Care to reply? Simon Wyndham August 8th, 2006, 04:38 AM Finally Soul Searcher, the low budget digital movie shot on an XL1s and XM1 that I served fight choreographer and glidecam duties on is being released in the UK. Only 4 years in the making! http://www.soulsearchermovie.com Looks like Neil has crammed an absolute ton of extras in there. So if anyone has an interest in making a film with nothing they will probably be of interest. Hopefully this post wasn't too commercial! Sean McHenry August 8th, 2006, 08:20 PM I posted "Cat Fight at OK and Corral" to Video.Google. It is the begining of a modern take on a western. It was inspired by a piece of music titled "Taxim in Red" from Ronni Raygun. The piece is 7 1/2 minutes and shot with the XL-H1 in 24F DV mode. Just a fun project we did one Saturday for a learning experience. Many people have asked why I ended the piece where I did. This is the first chapter. I am currently writing the rest of the story. The basic plot: without giving it all away, 2 women are given assignments. They drive to reach their destinations to make their appointments and run into each other. They are old friends in the same line of work. There are guns. Watch the video here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3284899451481438165 Have fun with it. Marcin Wilczek August 8th, 2006, 09:49 PM This is our new pod for Current.tv shoot on Canon XL2 and VHX200 Here is the link: http://www.current.tv/studio/media/10606699?s1=newVids&list=newVidsByProducer&k1=10449595&k2=-1&sid=10606699&fr=0 Raffy Ochoa August 9th, 2006, 09:11 AM really really really bad sound. I dont know anything about sound but this i know. This is bad. Oh, and some of the scenes were too dark. concept is kinda cool. good effort. it needs alot of editing. the film dosnt say enough for the amout of footage...cut it down in half! Lou Trottier August 9th, 2006, 09:12 AM I really enjoyed that. Very entertaining. Lou Brian Liloia August 9th, 2006, 01:39 PM First, thanks for providing some feedback. I am always open to comments and appreciate when people speak up. But I rather not get into pushing my own opinions at the moment. I do want to say, though, that the doc was produced so that the voices of the workers alone could be heard. We (the production team) did not want to directly insert our own beliefs, so that the workers themselves could be heard for what they had to say. (Of course, you can argue that we are projecting ourselves into the piece by choosing what makes it into the final film.) But anyway, the immigration issue is incredibly complex and is far from black and white. But that's pretty obvious, anyway. I think our subject was implying that they do not want to be treated as a lesser people, that they are just like you and me. They are not criminals (if you put aside the border crossing) because they are only here to work for the betterment of their own families. This is true for many of the workers living here. That is not a crime. Getting a legitimate visa, or obtaining US citizenship is extremely difficult, and not a real option for the majority of the people beacuse very few are granted every year. Anyway, I don't want to get too far into it, but the whole point is that the doc should lead the viewer to ask more questions. Steven Gotz August 9th, 2006, 03:00 PM Cool. Well done. Dino Santoro August 9th, 2006, 04:12 PM Thanks for taking the time to watch it. Pete Mander August 9th, 2006, 05:39 PM not bad for 48 hr pickup and drop off..I was hopeing to enter it myself this year made a post on this forum but just couldnt find the people. for the time you had great job. Gabriel Yeager August 10th, 2006, 11:19 PM Good job, Sean! *clapping* I have a few questions for you now... 1.) How did you find your actors? 2.) How did you get your actor that drove the mustang to where that outfit? Like how did you say "will you put this on for the movie" type thing? Thanks. Gabriel. Nate Fields August 11th, 2006, 11:33 PM http://media.putfile.com/Untitled617191 this a video i made for the band "Sham Rain" song "Slow Motions" i used a cheap trv 19 sony. this was really a test video and only spent about an hour shooting but alot more editing. just went out boom bam got it done as quik as i could. let me know what you think Nathaniel McInnes August 12th, 2006, 08:28 AM Hey people can you please tell me what you think of this film i made with my friends about 1 month ago. the file is about 16megs. We made it because we were board and i wanted to develope my FX skills. http://ia310141.us.archive.org/2/items/COSMO_CONFLICTS/cosmo_msn_send.mov Its a short but snappy film which really has no purpose. But i got alot of poeple buying it so it must be popular. Janssen Herr August 13th, 2006, 03:48 PM Hello all, I am the director of cinematography and editor of a short film called Just Desserts. We have put together a website with a teaser trailer to showcase the film for publicity purposes: http://www.justdessertsmovie.1go.dk This is a scene from the film which is a dream sequence. The film is shot on a Canon XM2 and edited on Final Cut Pro 5. The trailer is Quicktime Sorenson Video 3 Codec and is 19Mb. Would love to get some feedback about the teaser trailer. Cheers, Janssen Herr www.janssenherr.com Frank Hool August 13th, 2006, 04:06 PM synopsis plus trailer equals very promising :) Nick Weeks August 13th, 2006, 05:33 PM I agree... nice work! Ben Freedman August 14th, 2006, 09:53 AM Howdy... For those who enjoyed part 1, here's part 2 of our series of Apple Mac spoofs... Shot with Z1, Composed with Ultra 2, Edited with Vegas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9Krgk4Mlps Best, Benjamin Marcus Marchesseault August 14th, 2006, 12:27 PM Funny! Work? What's that? You matched the look of the Apple ads nicely. I watched many of the other Mac spoof ads and yours have the look and spirit of the originals better than the others. The only technical thing worth mentioning is the shot composition. In some clips there is too much headroom. The actor's eyes are sometimes going below the halfway point on the screen and a fair amount of blank white is looming above. I do not notice this issue with your tech reviews, so it is probably just a one-time oversight. Perhaps that could be solved by having Tiffany stand on a small applebox? Your reviews have you both sitting down and there is less difference in your heights that way. Hana Hou! ("Encore!"/"good job" in Hawaiian) Nate Schmidt August 14th, 2006, 06:18 PM Brilliant. Warren Thompson August 16th, 2006, 09:39 AM www.mrwarren.com/thedrivein.html Encoding type: Sorrenson 3 Let me know what you think? -Mr. Warren Justin Tomchuk August 16th, 2006, 10:00 AM Warren, that was great! Good job! The little intro was neat as well as the titles. You did a good job showcasing awkward situations. I thought it was dragged out too long though, and the conclusion was weak. I was expecting something unexpected, but it sort of just wrapped up. Another technical hitch was that there were parts where the cuts were like one right after the other. Too many cuts in a short amount of time. It was hard to watch when the cuts moves so fast. I think it was still well done, I look forward to seeing more from you. Warren Thompson August 16th, 2006, 10:29 AM Thank you. Appreciated. Daniel Knight August 16th, 2006, 01:04 PM Hi guys… Just wanted to let you know about a short film that I’m currently pimping to the horror film festivals. I’ve just been at work updating the site when I realised I hadn’t dropped a link off here before. The Morning After is a 7 minute short film we finished up a couple of months ago, was shot on an FX1, and has a ridiculous amount of blood in it. If you are at all queasy – please do not download this film! It was an exercise in visual storytelling without dialogue, without a moral, and certainly without taste. You’ve been warned. But it looks pretty and that’s the main thing. :) I always wanted to make a pretty splatter film – and here it is! Enjoy! http://www.snowgumfilms.com/themorningafter/film.htm Nathaniel McInnes August 17th, 2006, 03:34 AM if any of you have seen this can you please give some comments on it? Kent Frost August 17th, 2006, 07:05 AM Well, my Canon EOS 300D finally had a stroke yesterday. I surpassed 30,000 shots with this camera, and the mirror finally gave out. I haven't decided whether or not I want to replace it or just repair it yet. Anyway, here's the last thing my camera saw before giving it up. It's a timelapse. I built a rig that clamps onto my car door and uses a Bogen video head. I originally built it for my video camera, but once I tried this I fell in love with the results. Looks like now I'll be going back to the video camera. http://www.djspiral.com/video/all_around_the_block.mpg Cole McDonald August 17th, 2006, 07:23 AM That's really cool! Boyd Ostroff August 17th, 2006, 07:34 AM That is very cool!... sorry to hear about the camera though. K. Forman August 17th, 2006, 07:37 AM That really was pretty cool. Jerry Porter August 17th, 2006, 08:24 AM Very cool!!! Now, how did you do it??????? Jeremy Hughes August 17th, 2006, 12:08 PM Hey guys, heres a rough trailer for a movie we've been working on. Sound is all temped in as placeholder but I wanted to see if I could get some general feedback on the trailer. It still doesnt have tightened frames, CC or anything like that either. I'm only going to leave the cut up for a couple days. One question I'd love to hear back on is "what do you think the movie is about after watching the trailer?" http://jeremyhughes77.com/_qt/redheadtrailer1.mov Thanks! Jeremy Nick Weeks August 17th, 2006, 01:57 PM Great job! I love the preview, and I especially love the text effect at the end I honestly don't know what it's about... kinda hard to tell, but it kinda reminds me of the movie "Stay" that came out recently. My audio is terrible here at work, so I missed a lot of the dialog. I'll have to watch it again when I get home. When do you think this movie will be finished? The trailer is intriguing! Justin Tomchuk August 17th, 2006, 02:19 PM It started out slow but it really picked up and won me over. That was a great trailer, it makes me want to see the feature. Andy Graham August 17th, 2006, 03:32 PM Cools as good a word as any I'll go with that. Andy. Stephen L. Noe August 17th, 2006, 03:38 PM Uhh.... that was,? Well, I just don't know what to say. Andy Graham August 17th, 2006, 03:53 PM Yeah its a very slow download speed. I'm downloading it anyway cause im interested to see it if it is selling........I'll let you know my thoughts in a few days whein its downloaded. (man I love sarcasm whoever said it's the lowest form of witt just didn't have a sense of humour) Andy. |
