Just saw the comercial for the upcoming show American Choppers on The Discovery Channel. Mikey will be doing a documentary "behind the scenes" type of deal. He'll be using Sony's Z1. This will be a treat for you HDV freaks. Now you can really compare along side with Discovery's own broadcast cameras and the Z1. If not mistaken this show is also shown in HD. Should be a real treat to see the Z1 in the broadcast world. Show is on Mondays..repeats throughout the week.

I saw the show. It appears that the Z1 is Mickey's own personal camera. The footage looked really good despite the shakey feel of it, but overall I thought it cut quite nicely with their more expensive Sony HD cameras.

That was their European vacation that you saw. This coming Monday's espisode should be a good one as it will compare more on the Z1 and Discovery's own broadcast cameras which cost like 15 of the Z1s. Does anyone know what kind of camera Discovery use for HD??

Just watched it. It was a very good comparision side by side with Sony's Z1 and Discovery Channels HD cams. All I can say is the little guy (z1) is very quite close to thoes big guns.

Well...don't be too fooled.

The Z1 footage could be doctored in post in order to match the HDCam's more closely.

Color saturation can be increased, black levels can be adjusted...

I'm pretty sure that Discovery primarily uses Sony F900's in 1080i.
