A Blackmagic DeckLink Pro can digitize 720 24p as 720p59.94 DVCPRO HD.

The problem now is to remove the pulldown. Cinema Tools, sees the 59.94fps timebase and says "gee that's not NTSC." Well, Apple, we're not in the last century either.

Am I missing a way to get the pulldown removed during the digitization?

Am I missing a way to set the clip's timebase to 29.97 after capture?

I guess I'll see what happens if I lie to the DeckLink and claim the timebase is 29.97fps.

REPORT:Didn't work.

So one gets 720p59.94 clips with 2:3 pulldown.

However, you can edit that fine.

Be sure your in-point is at the second of the "2" or the third of the "3".

Likewise, an out-point should be at the second of the "2" or the third of the "3".

Unless, of course you are editing nased upon audio in which case you cut where you need to.

The result is ready to go to HDCAM or DVCPRO HD.

It is not the right way to go to film, however.

And, no there is no TC unless you use the VTR with RS422 control.

Steve,

I'm cutting all next week on a Decklink Pro HD system with an Xserve RAID and Multibridge HD, so I will doing further testing in my spare time. My limited tests on this same system in October involved 60P live output in 720P30 mode, but I have some new things to try now that David Newman has sparked my interest in possible 48P output of the live feed.

I have a client interested in shooting some green-screen with the HD100, so we'll see how 4:4:4 works in comparison to 4:2:0.
