Hi David,

I have AE 6.0 on Win XP with Aspect HD installed.

On AE render of HDV project, Magic Bullet consistently gives me "unknown error 512" after initially processing maybe 90 frames.

Do you know of any conflicts betw MB 2.0 and AHD??

Thanks.

No I don't know of any conflicts. Are you using VFW export or CineForm AVI export?

David, for you and other good folks: indeed AHD had nothing to do with it.

I finally discovered that 512 crash is a known bug of Magic Bullet on Xeon PCs.

FYI, a fix can be downloaded from here:

UNRELATED: I have a couple of suggestions for HDLink...

1. Drag-and-drop. This basic capability is absent (unless I'm missing something?) but is very much need in the Convert window.

2. Ability NOT to Convert (or Capture) sound. Many times I don't need the soundtrack, but AHD's HDLink creates AVI with sound, and then it gobbles up HDD space and Conformation time on import into PPro... :(

KUDOS for Aspect HD in general: codec is absolutely brilliant, it's fast, allows for much post-production tweaking without falling apart - a joy to work with, thanks!

Alex, Thanks for that update. I'll will add your suggests to our database; drag and drop has come up before (I know that would be useful), however not converting audio is a new one, but it clearly would have benefits for Premiere.

I'm also getting the 512 error while running MB 2.0 in After Effects. I've installed the patch that supposedly fixes this error, but it keeps ocurring. Also I'm running a P4, not Xeon. Any ideas what's going on?

Do Not export using the cineform codec (choose windows avi format in render queue then choose the cineform codec as the windows codec. Works with MB 2.0 that way.

Ive tryed to use magic bullet, but i guess my computer is not fast enough... Im considering updating my processor which is right now at 466 MHz... Or it is the RAM? Im using 640 RAM...

If i update to a 1.62 GHZ proccessor and increment my RAM, will I be running Magic Bullet Faster???? Or is it a natively slow application?

It will run faster, but it will still be way below what you need to get any type of performance.

Michael, I tried your suggestion of exporting using MS AVI format, choosing the cineform codec as the windows codec. But have 2 hours of rendering MB 2.0 in AE, I get the same error 512. The only successful MB render I've been able to complete has been on an SD avi clip -- no luck yet at all with a HD avi clip.

BTW, This is only on a a 30 second 1440 x 1080 avi file... I'm just trying to see if MB 2.0 works well enough with HD to purchase. At the crash point 2 hours into the render, it indicated there were still 6 hours left to go. Is this a reasonable time to render a 30 second video with MB 2.0 using an AMD Athlon x2 4200 plus Nvidia Quadro 1300 video card?

What is your setup..... ie what effects do you have on it, just magic bullet? what are your settings for that?

I'm running the quickstart suggested configuration in the user guide... just to see how it works. That is, MB -> auto setup, Look Suite -> Basic, Broadcast Spec -> component. Everything else is the default.
