This isn't really relevant to DVInfo specifically other than to say it looks like we may have lost another long-standing video forum. DVXuser has been down for days. Trying to ping its servers brings a not found response. I hope DVInfo stays alive, otherwise the whole scene is starting to look a lot smaller. Not good for any of us!

I noticed that they’ve been down for 3 days. I was thinking they may have changed hosting or maybe they were trying to update the forum software and it caused a problem. At this point the active users has dwindled so much we could set up our own chat group.

I had the same thought. I'm also on an audio forum that is even worse than DVX for new posts - they changed the software, the members hated it, but the owner had this idea that he wanted it to be a repository for useful stuff, but the membership just stopped posting. he resisted everyone's pleas to revert to how it used to be - it might have even used this forum's software - it used to look very similar, now it's all black and glossy

Too bad we didn't have some warning about DVX so we could have encouraged all the remaining users to come over here.

Their domain expiry is in July this year, so no risk of that.
Their nameserver for handling their DNS (Domain Name System) lookup is a subdomain of their own, which isn't the wisest of things. Some DNS cache/history lookup services such as CloudFlare and Google DNS are showing no information available, indicating that the site and its name servers has been down longer than the TTL (Time To Live) and hence the existing info has been flushed.
So it's thoroughly kaput. No ability to make contact with anyone from existing records (domain name rego is all privacy'd out) and you wouldn't be able to make contact through their hosting provider. Any email @dvxuser.com certainly won't work.
Short of a bolloxed server migration or transfer, I'd say it quietly fell away with only Internet Archive copies remaining.

Agreed. That's when the downward slide started. We are a fickle bunch. Still, it's a shame.

It's back online again, although not fully functional. Perhaps they are trying to get it up and rolling again one step at a time.

Quick! While there is still time to tell everyone to come over here to DVinfo. :-)
