Nice work Bob! I especially appreciate the nice clean sound of the bugling. When did you shoot it?

Doug, glad you enjoyed the video. I used a Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic. I was there Sept. 11-13. All the elk shots were filmed at Moraine Park. When we lived in Denver back in the 70's we would go there all the time. I even worked there the summer of 1975. I'll guess I'll have to get used to the idea of needing a Timed Entry Pass. Safe travels, Bob

Timed entry at RMNP now? Too many people. What we need is a nice pandemic to reduce the size of the herd. And I'm not talking about elk.

Doug, it really wasn't that bad. Since I knew exactly what days I would be there I was able to get the timed entry pass 30 days in advance. I did it all online for only $2.00 a day. I'm going to do a road trip to Yellowstone next year, I can imagine what that will be like. Question, when would be the best time to go to Maine to video puffins? Bob

Yeah, I experienced timed-entry at Arches NP last spring and it waa actually pretty good. Easier to find a parking space and a lot less crowded. I'm just surprised Rocky MountainNP is getting the same treatment.

No timed entry at Yellowstone, but I wouldn't go near the place after May or before September. Even then, you want to get up early to take advantage of the nice light and active wildlife. Go do something else from 10:00 - 4:00. And then come back in the later afternoon and shoot until dark. Most of the crowds and obnoxious people are only active from 10-5. Ironically, the worst time of day for seeing wildlife.

Puffins??? I'm afraid you're asking the wrong person. Never seen one, and I have no idea where they are. But when you find out, let me know so I can film them too! :-)

That's a hilarious observation about the obnoxious people. (sigh)

Can you start a thread? This would be most worthy (and therapeutic) as a topic.

You wouldn't believe how stupid some people can be, and not only in America. However, this idiotic craze of taking selfies near wild animals or hanging off a cliff has really gotten out of control. I always cheer when the animal stomps a tourist that got to close.

Me too! I love it when the animal scores a point.

Kinda funny how "fluffy cow" signs are a real thing, and people actually buy them because they are needed.

Eg "exactly what we ordered for the Buffalo Valley Cafe in Moran, Wyoming Grand Teton National Park Jackson Hole, Wyoming at Heart Six Ranch" (from one review)
