David Mathew Bonner aka dMb Gary Nattrass April 19th, 2023, 12:32 PM Well I am 62 now so suppose that may count as an old timer. Still in the TV industry tho after 43 years of fun and filming plus at the BBC in Manchester now so only 130 miles from home! David Stoneburner April 21st, 2023, 06:28 AM I still do a check almost every day. Coming up on 35 years for me. :) David Mathew Bonner April 27th, 2023, 11:24 AM Nice. I don't even know where the time went but I do miss forums and could care less about social media platforms https://dmbvideo.com/from-videographer-to-full-video-production-a-guide-to-succeeding-in-the-edmonton-market/ Andrew Smith April 27th, 2023, 07:05 PM I still do a check almost every day. Coming up on 35 years for me. :) You joined in 2003 whereas I only joined in early 2009. Wondering who has the oldest membership join date on this forum. Would be interesting to find out. Andrew Steven Digges May 3rd, 2023, 09:56 PM Me: Join Date October 27th, 2002 Total Posts 1,827 This site was incredibly useful to me. I can't even begin to explain how educational it was. Not to mention how much I enjoyed being a part of this community. Chris even published an article I wrote once upon a time about the evolution of our industry. I am still a working professional videographer. But I don't have any other resource available that is as valuable as this site was back in that day. Life changes, technology changes, you keep up or die. Thank you Chris Hurd for creating something so valuable to so many of us for so many years! Steve Bob Drummond May 21st, 2023, 11:17 AM I really miss this place, and forums/message boards in general. Paolo Perelli May 23rd, 2023, 05:56 AM yeah, me too Kyle Root June 16th, 2023, 07:44 PM First time here in a while. Last week I put my old Bogen Manfrotto video tripod up for sale... I got it based on some recommendations from here and the newsgroups back in the day.... that is in like early 2000s. I can't believe I'm still doing this all these years later. I ventured off into photography in 2017 as well. This past year I got hired by United Launch Alliance as a contract photographer which has been pretty cool. I learned so much here over the years. Such a great resource. Kind of like DPReview. Mark Williams June 18th, 2023, 08:50 AM I am 70 and joined in 2002. Lots of good info here over the years. Peter Riding June 19th, 2023, 08:04 AM Relative newbie here are 8th Feb 2011. There never seemed to be a very active and comprehensive forum anywhere for wedding work, unlike with photography. I mainly used this wedding room and up to a point the Vegas room though Vegas was better served by its own Sony / Magix forum. Forums come and go anyway. There was the Digital Wedding Forum DWF once with many thousands of paying subscribers from all over the World but that was dead and buried long ago probably killed off my free social media groups. Even DVInfo has given up the ghost recently. I was a member from 27th Dec 2001. Fred Miranda, which I joined 29th March 2004, is still going strong though not much in its wedding room and still less with video. The only forum I use regularly is DaVinci Resolve. It is very active and has a ton of in depth posts from experts including the Blackmagic staff. Nigel Barker December 1st, 2023, 06:24 AM Today I logged in for the first time in ages. I originally joined in Feb 2009 or almost 15 years ago. I was very active at one time with over 3.5K posts although I gave up videography about 10 years ago & sold all my gear. I still really appreciate the support that I got in this forum. Like others I mourn the death of similar forums as they are so much more useful than the awful mess that is Facebook groups. DP Review is still pretty active. Now I am fully retired I still do a bit of video but find photography more interesting. I just use my iPhone 12 Pro Max or Sony Cybershot RX100M6. Best wishes to all the other old timers still around. I will still drop in to DV Info from time to time. Anthony McErlean December 2nd, 2023, 05:06 AM Hi I joined in October, 2008. I look in most days to see what's going on :) , just to add this forum was very helpful to me, full of great advice, tips and links. I don't relay on it as much now, i'm retired. :) Andrew Smith December 2nd, 2023, 05:55 AM I joined a tad later in Feb 2009, and this is one of my mandatory daily visits when it comes to websites. DVinfo is priceless. Andrew George Bean December 9th, 2023, 10:45 AM Been here a while but not near as often lately. Hey DMB, I remember you also from the videouniversity forums, your wedding video with the AC/DC song long way to the top is still one of the best ever. Kyle Root December 20th, 2023, 06:10 PM I joined in 2003 after finding this on the rec.video.net newsgroup or similar. Scary I can remember that. haha. I was active on several newsgroups back in the day. Still shooting weddings and events, got a gig shooting photos for United Launch Alliance last year and that was pretty sweet. Just got word I'll be shooting for them again in 2024. I'm slowly getting out of weddings but I love the money so it's hard to quit entirely. I learned so much here when I was first starting out. Good times! David Mathew Bonner June 2nd, 2024, 09:43 AM Hey George, good to see you. VU was the best. I think I kept Doug (I think it was Doug , the Rocket.scientist, busy as a moderator lol Long way to the top was a fun one ... |
