Uwol 64 "Autumn in the Forest - A gladiatorial time of year" by Mick Jenner on Vimeo

My entry centres around my quest to film a red stag rut fight. I have for many years filmed these red deer but have never been able to film a full on fight .Determined to film a fight we based ourselves in the area for two weeks During that time I managed to film two full on fights each lasting over ten minutes.Cold weather plays an important part seeming to to trigger the females into season. Unfortunately there was only one overnight frost during our entire stay. All the clips were recorded between the 1st and 16th of October this year. Enjoy

Hi Mick!
This was a good one. Very nice you got the chance to film the full fights.
I like the dull colors the fog and haze created.
Nice to see you appear in front of the camera too.

Well done!

Mick, that was some incredible footage. In all my years of videoing I never got shots like that. I am glad you were able to get natural sounds including the antlers hitting each other. It was nice to see you Infront of the camera. A great entry. Bob

Great job Mick! Your persistence paid off capturing such a memorable event and then you skillfully presented it.

Hi Mick.
Long time since no see, but what a return in this last round of uwol.
You have managed to capture something that few people get to see, stags in rut.
I've had deer behind my house for many years, which eat my apples every autumn,
but never have I seen the rut match.
Thanks for the movie Mick.
