Hi again all.

A friend of mine is interested in buying my Sony PMW-320K camera.

The firmware version on the camera is sitting at v1.00, I was looking to see if there where updated versions and I found this...

https://pro.sony/en_SI/support-resources/pmw-320k/software

Am I rright in thinking these are the new firmware versions for the camera?

Can I got straight to version V1.41 from my version 1.00?

The reason I would update the camera firmware for him, is because he is going to use the MxM adapters and SDXC cards instead of the SXS cards....or will I leave well enough alone :)

Your thoughts please :)

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest it would be okay to go straight to 1.41 but a quick phone call to Sony support should confirm that.

My past experience with Sony firmware upgrades is that they will inform you in the release notes for any firmware update version if a previous version needs to be installed first. I remember that being the case on upgrades for one of the PDW series camera models. Having looked at all the 320 release notes, 1.20 thru 1.41 I see no notice for the requirement to go through any previous versions of the firmware first. I did a PMW-300 for someone not long ago for exactly the same reason but to run XQD cards and that camera went from its first version to its last with no issues at all. Just follow the update instructions to the 'T'.

But as I said, for peace of mind I'd call Sony tech support.

Hi again,

I contacted suopport as you suggested Chris and I got this reply...

...If this is just a user upgrading then it shouldn't be a problem to go directly to V1.41...

and this one too...

The link below is with all major version, you can upgrade gradually , even, it should be no issues going directly to V1.41.

While I was waiting on support to get back to me, I decided to upgrade one version at a time anyway, So all worked out good for me :) Latest version installed now :)

Thanks Chris and support.
