Would buying a HVX200 give you all of the advantages of a DVX100B if you you just wanted to shoot SD? Of course you would have the obvious advantages of its HD capabilities as well.

Just trying to figure out if there would be any disadvantages of something the HVX200 couldn't do, that the DVX100B could to figure out which camera would be better for the long run.

with a hvx better lens, and true 16:9 ccds your probably pulling a better picture just before dv compression, plus the hvx will have a better resale value then any other sd camera

Good points Robert. I really do appreciate the true 16:9 that my XL2 has, so it would be nice to have a second camera with the same capabilities.
