Wow after all these years they finally made an updated Mac Pro tower!

I haven't had time to read in depth. Great looking design, but it doesn't come cheap, starting at $6,000

At least the cheese grater comes as standard.

I’m seriously thinking about crowd funding one.

Cheers.

Just bought a Sapphire 7950 Mac Edition graphics card upgrade for my wonderful (and paid-for) 5,1 Classic. Thought about the RX 580 but not in that much of a hurry.

Same here.

I would like a newer mac so I could get a newer os so I could get a newer version of FCPX so I could get current plugins. Unfortunately once I do that I won’t be able to easily author and produce dvds.

I am tempted to build a hackintosh. I don’t have the time and while it would be nice to have a faster newer machine I don’t really “need” it. For about 1/3 the price I could build a computer to perform the same as this Mac Pro.

The new Mac Pro is nice but it’s obviously targeted for corporate high end users who have deep pockets. Every one seems to having a laugh at the fully loaded price tag of $53,000

It’s hard to argue the value of desktop starting at $6,000 that has 256gb hard drive and $200 video card. Yes you could upgrade the gpu for $2,400 (jaw drop) After a couple of upgrades you’re in the neighborhood of $10,000 and those $400 wheels start to sound inexpensive in comparison. not for an average user or even an enthusiast.

It only took 7 years for Apple to listen to the complaints of the professional community of no expansions or upgrade options. So now we have pci slots, we can add standard graphics cards and its easily accessible!
