I wasn't sure where to post this, since EF lenses fit into a variety of forum categories on DVi -- it is an immensely popular lens around here, for good reason.

B&H has dropped the price on it (for now) from $880 down to $550. If you've been waiting for this, then *now* is indeed the right time to scoop one up... you won't regret it.

I purchased this lens at the new price shortly after the arrival of the BMD Pocket 6K. Although the P6K has the EF mount, the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 is a wonderful fit because the P6K is mirrorless, so no interference with a mirror. Additionally, all the electronics is fully active including stabilization, auto focus. Lens shooting info, (iris and shutter) is displayed on the lcd and additional metadata is presented in Resolve including zoom length and focal length. The speed and optics are superb for a zoom at this price point; the stabilization has the right amount of compensation for video. It is my default kit lens for the P6k.
