a c100 question:

does the c100mk2 dual pixel autofocus face track like the dpaf function in the canon dslrs?

i know on my canon sl2, you go into video mode and use the dpaf and the box will follow the face or object that was focused.

does the c100 dpaf focus square follow the subject or does the subject need to stay in the middle of the frame and then re-compose?

thanks in advance.

thumbs up.

I’ve read specs online that indicate only some of canon’s own lenses support face detection with the C100 Mk 2, and maybe with other DPAF EOS video cams.

I found this:
https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Cinema-EOS-Discussions/C100-mkII-Face-AF/td-p/252393

It seems official! IIRC there is also a table in the manual. Basically, the STM zooms.

Disclaimer - I don’t own a Mk2, just the Mk1. DPAF is da’ bomb, with or without face detection. IMHO it’s touch screen focus point selection that really gives it wings. If you have a touch screen.

How I wish Canon would update the good 'ol EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, which is just about the best lens ever for the C100 except it doesn't support face detection. We really need a new version of this lens, keeping the same very high optical quality and constant max. aperture, but making it STM.

Pleeeeeaaaaase!
