The hand piece I understand has freedom of motion in 3 axes but is there any bias in this freedom of motion?

I don't believe there are any Merlin users yet. It should start shipping soon and when it does I believe there will be quite a lot of discussion of it.

Raimo, (From Finland maybe?)
as Laurence said, the merlin is not shipping yet. I have however played with it at a tradeshow.
The gimble of the Merlin is very similar to the gimble of the Steadicam JR.
It has no 'bias' as it is just as free in every axis.
However as with every gimble there are limits to some of the axis, beacuse of the mechanis of the gimbel mount (for example you can't tilt through the handle..) These limits are imposed by the parts of the gimble obstructing motion, not by any internal limits within the gimble.

It is as equaly free in all axis as possible.
