This is from the nekkid dating show "Adam Looking For Eve - Germany" which naturally is subtitled for broadcast on dubious government funded TV channels in English speaking countries.

To my embarrassment it took me ages to figure out how they were able to get such good clean audio when there are no boom mics being used. Exceptionally clever placement.

The Discovery US show "Naked and Afraid" uses something similar. Both contestants have necklaces for th emic, and they carry a satchel with the transmitter.

A naked woman standing in front of you, and your puzzled about her microphone?

As audio guys think of weird things when watching tv/films...... almost can be tricky to switch off the professional/technical side of our brain (but when I do, it is a sign of a really good story that it was able to draw me in!).

They could have put a Sansa Clip behind the daisy, and eliminated the pouch hanging on the back. Probably slightly lower quality, though.

How many years until we have surgically-implantable mics? (Maybe the CIA has them now!)

You'd be stuck with no way to monitor the audio then!

Why not use boom mic?

You'd need a dedicated soundie to go around with the camera man, and they complain about their arms get a bit tired after a while.

Get a better boom op then!

Lots of these reality tv shows do use a boom op.
(but also shockingly many don't! Thus why you often hear now and then really bad audio on reality tv....)

A blonde colored head mic in the hair, with a mini blue tooth transmitter in the hair.

For the short hair guy it may be a different story,
