This must be one of those problems that was solved long ago but I'm not finding it...

What is a good way to mount a flashlight (one of those smaller metal ones that are popular nowadays, perhaps 1/2 to 3/4 of in inch in diameter) to a hot shoe?

I want to mount a IR flashlight to my Sony AX-100 (which I have the Sony shoe to hot shoe adapter for) but I need something simple as I will be mobile when using it.

Any suggestions?

Get a rubber microphone mount in the approx. diameter that you need. Using a 3/8 to 1/4-20 reducer, you can attach it to any mini ball mount tripod head, which usually has a cold-shoe mount. This allows you to slip the flashlight in easily and quickly, and adjust the angle.
