Another complaint...you can't use the lens hood (which has a nifty built in flip off lens cap) if you want a use screw on lens filter (like a lens protector or polarizer)...really? come on.

Andy Urtusuastegui September 21st, 2018, 08:30 PM I have the XF400 And use a screw on UV or ND filters and I’m able to use the lens hood no problem Andy Urtusuastegui September 21st, 2018, 08:31 PM I also tried the Sony Z 90 for a few days. Good camera but too much aliasing and Morie for my taste. The 1080p in the Canon just look better to my eyes Mike Meyerson September 22nd, 2018, 06:43 AM I have the XF400 And use a screw on UV or ND filters and I’m able to use the lens hood no problem hmmmmm, what brand are your filters? I have a few Hoya filters and they don't fit. Maybe some are a little thinner. Nick Mirro May 7th, 2019, 03:45 PM Love this thread! My first month playing with the XF400 and for me, its a dream. I'm coming from XA10, XA20 then this! So sorry for XF users holding out for a high-end upgrade. Hope something good is in the works. I use it for wildlife and am having so much fun with it. The Canon 500D (both 58 and 77mm) work nicely with it. You gain full zoom without degradation from 10 and 14 to about 20 inches. The 77 can go on the end of the TL-U58 by way of Cavision CR95-80 and stepdown ring ART 95-77. Then add a cheap 95mm hood. For recording, the Ninja inferno is a great match by way of the Monfrotto 244mini arm. The plastic Raynox 2.2x conversion lens mates nicely too (sharpish in the middle only). I was shocked to see continuous autofocus work. It didn't with the XA10 or 20. Was about to sell the Raynox... XF Utility is another nice surprise. Finally some useful software with a Canon camcorder. 4k infrared too! Have to find something to use that for. The mic holder is smaller? than the XA predecessors. So the Sony ECM-MS2 wouldn't fit. Had to rip off the top rubber gasket, which solved that. For sure print out the manual double-sided. Fedex will bind it very nicely for under $5. Nick Mirro May 7th, 2019, 04:00 PM if you want a use screw on lens filter (like a lens protector or polarizer) The Hoya LPF (Low profile frame) fits, however you can't adjust it when the hood is on. If you adjust then add hood, the polarizer turns little to not at all when putting the hood on over it. Steve Bleasdale April 11th, 2021, 01:33 PM Fabulous camcorder, my c100 now for sale. |
