I've been out of the DvD burning loop since it started as I haven't had a need for that particular medium yet. However I now need to join the bandwagon and have a question.

I scoured this site and came up with some interesting leads and an acrobat file listing all of the Dvd players Adobe reccommends for Premiere 1.5. Interestingly enough, most of the models listed I could not even begin to locate from any of my usual hardware sources - so suffice to say, I will probably be publishing the DvD through something like Nero.

Okay, onto my actual question. What software do people here generally reccommend for authoring DvDs?

The two burners I am looking at are the Lite-On USB SOHW-1693SX, which I have read many good reviews of, and the Sony DRX720UL/T, which I have also read good things about and comes stocked with every Nero *insert attention grabbing subtitle* available.

Just wondering what you guys reccommend for burners and if you have any comments on the two above that I am looking at.

Other factors:
I am on a limited budget right now
We are doing a short film right now, nothing near feature length
I am an extreme Noob in the DvD R/RW market as of this moment

Thanks guys

as i remember it, sony and liteon are basically the same thing internally... i have had two of 'em go bad, so i would not recommend sony at all.

get a pioneer burner, and use quality dvd media, you should be o.k. with that.

Thanks for the reply - I had been looking at Pioneer burners earlier today, in particular the DVR-110d but I could not find any definitive reviews on it. Do you have any model recommendations?

Alec, I recommend checking the DVD recorder reviews on these Web sites.
