I am planning to shoot a short sequence soon on the HD100, and I am wondering what the best way is to downconvert to DV format so I can have some samples in roughly DVD-resolution format?

Will I have to pay a post house to do this for me?

Thanks.

Most NLE programs have facilities for export of NTSC from an HDV timeline.

I'd investigate that route...the particulars vary from NLE to NLE.

You mean downconvert on a PC? I don't have that great of a system, though, to capture the ProHD onto the PC in the first place. I just have a PC and Premiere Pro.

Investigate what it's going to take to get your Premiere Pro HDV ready. It might be just as simple as downloading the free HDV plug-in.

Then from there I'd imagine it's just a matter of exporting an NTSC compliant .avi or Quicktime file for DVD encoding.

With Final Cut Pro, as long as you're careful with your methods, this works incredibly well.
