My HP ZD7000 is a work horse with Premiere Pro + just about anything else I throw at. They now have the ZD8000 which is the next iteration. Purchase through Costco.com and you'll have a 6-month unconditional return for any reason warranty. I know 3 other people who have purchased the ZD based on my recommendation and they love it.

It all depends on what you are trying to edit. Are you editing DV or HDV? Are you going to be graphic intensive work? Also, take a look at my DVD article and it may help you out a little bit: http://asvideoproductions.com/video/articles/laptops.pdf
