Dear Friends,

Today we posted new firmware for the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q, Odyssey7Q+ and Apollo.

Many new significant features have been added.

For those who would like a lower bit-rate / longer recording time, we added Apple ProRes Proxy recording in all of our products.

For the high-end, we added the ability to record ARRIRAW in 4:3 mode.

And we have implemented our Titan Option, which allows one to take a Sony FS Raw Camera, Sony FS700, FS7 with XDCA and FS5 (all with Raw Capabilities) and record:

1: A Super-sampled Ultra-HD to HD window
2. Another window, either 720p or 1080p, depending on your frame rate, moveable while recording.
3. Another window, as above.

Titan Option does not require our Raw Bundle to accept Raw from the Sony FS Cameras.

In addition, the Titan Option can work with cameras that can output 4K or Ultra-HD via HDMI or Dual Link 3G.

For the Apollo or Apollo Option we have added EDL Support, so that one can perform Live Switching as well as recording the Quad Split.

And we have added Live Switching via our EDL Support for Dual 4K and Dual UHD modes.

Panasonic Varicam LT Raw Support

Comprehensive Raw Support has been added for the Varicam LT.

There are numerous other features added in this firmware release.

Respectfully,

Pardon my frustration.

DNxHR?? Ever or Never? Is it really that hard to do versus writing code to make a monitor a switcher and a video scaler?

Or do you want to just keep pushing that codec down the road till those of us that want and need it go away? I've already invested multi-thousands of dollars in 2 of CDs monitors BECAUSE they were going to offer something other than ProRes. It has been 2 years of waiting and hearing "Its coming".

Please just tell us its not coming.

And if its not coming can you PLEASE put the ProRes in something other than a MOV wrapper? MXF?? Please?? Maybe?? In a few years even?? Please??

I mirror this sentiment. I may just move on to a AJA Ki Pro Ultra or Atomos Shogun Inferno + FFmpeg workflow if this the "Beta" code for DNxHD will never be merged with production code.

Dan, you made this promise in June:

Thus, our next planned firmware release is expected to have Avid DNxHD in the QuickTime wrapper.

This promise has been broken. Pack your bags, folks. Time to move on to the greener pastures of Atomos or AJA.

Dear Chris and Jack,

I have provided a comprehensive answer in our Convergent Design forum:

We are still working on Avid DNxHD. We wanted to have it in this firmware release, but we were still perfecting it.
