So if you're in the market for a Sachtler Ace and need the L instead of the M (because why not have 7 steps of counterbalance instead of 5 and have a head that can hold 4.5lbs more), but you don't need the CF sticks, then this is a nice deal. But if you want CF sticks & the Ace L head, then stick with the "non-signature" edition.

Great description. I was just shopping the Ace M for a friend, saw the signature edition and wondered what the story was. Reading this, it's perfectly clear. (At first glance on the website, I wondered if it might be an extra $163 for a "name", but that's clearly not the case.)

FWIW, the Ace M should meet my friend's needs.
