View Full Version : Standard Mic that comes with LS300 B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 03:01 AM Any idea of the specs or model number of the standard mic that comes with the LS300? Can't seem to find anything in the documentation Thanks Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 06:10 AM That's a good question. I'll ask my contacts at JVC America. B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 06:25 AM Would really appreciate that. Spent 2 hrs checking online pdf adverts but no one says anything about the mic! Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 06:35 AM I understand completely. It's a common issue. You can get nearly every spec you want in the video / imaging area, but when it comes to audio, usually it just says "mic included." I hope to get a response from JVC today. Noa Put August 17th, 2016, 07:25 AM Any idea of the specs or model number of the standard mic that comes with the LS300? Not sure if you own the camera but if you where planning to buy it I already can tell you the stock shotgun mike is not so good and the camera internal audio is even worse, I replaced the stock mike with my audio technica at897 which sounds a lot better. B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 07:57 AM @Noa just got the camera today. Don't plan on using the Mic, but I would like to know specs to decide it's faith! I wonder if it's even produced by JVC there is no logo or mark on it I have AT875 and I plan on using that one for the time being. Internal cam mic.... I've seen 1 review where they said it was good.... I bet no one believes that! Noa Put August 17th, 2016, 08:49 AM I'm sure other ls300 owners will chime in to say that the internal mike and the shotgun mike are not good, I hear a clear difference in quality when I connect my at897. The stock mike might be a mike specifically made for this camera and which cannot be bought separately. B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 09:12 AM Since they mention the mic in the ads, least is to write a line or 2 of specs. most probably it's a very wide cardioid Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 09:28 AM Found the answer. The model number is JVC QAN0067-003. JVC Pro Product Overview QAN0067-003 (http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/features.jsp?model_id=MDL102361&feature_id=01) "This is the microphone supplied with the GY-LS300 and works on most JVC ProHD and 4KCAM camcorders." MSRP $106.00 USD Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 09:46 AM Looks like we've had a previous discussion about this topic: JVC GY-LS300 standard shotgun mic at DV Info Net (http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/jvc-4k-pro-handheld-camcorders/530927-jvc-gy-ls300-standard-shotgun-mike.html) Yes, the QAN0067-003 is the same mic which ships with the GY-LS300. Noa Put August 17th, 2016, 10:02 AM Doh! totally forgot about that thread :) B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 10:07 AM Thanks Chris. Great Work. Unfortunately no specs for the mic :( Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 10:12 AM I can find plenty of online links that sell this mic, but I can't find anything with solid info on the specs. Not even JVC's own product page. Well, you had asked for a model number so at least we were able to find *that* out (and as it turns out, that info was here all along). If *you* find out anything about the specs, please be sure to share them with us! Chris Hurd August 17th, 2016, 10:15 AM Well, there's this: BLK Audiovisual LTD | | JVC QAN0067-003 (http://blk.gr/index/manproducts/JVC/6859099811/en/jvc-qan0067-003) Click the "specifications" tab... Imp., freq. range, sensitivity... sparse, but something. B.J. Adams August 17th, 2016, 10:32 AM Perfect Chris. Finally we have some specs about this thing! Thanks Alex Humphrey September 3rd, 2016, 08:19 AM The kit mic's where never great. Good for reference to synch audio, but not much more. I have a Sennhieser K6/66 that an audio engineer said was the least expensive thing he would work with, and seemed good to me. Almost never fits the stock kit mic holder and I end up using a suspended mic mount (bands). Got it 3 cameras ago and still working. So never skimp on audio. It will outlast your camera. :) B.J. Adams September 3rd, 2016, 08:29 AM sold off the camera mic. will use the $ to fund more gadgets! |
