View Full Version : Can Sony AX100 rec in 10 bit? Adriano Moroni June 21st, 2016, 09:30 AM Hi, I have just bought Sony XD9305 TV that has a 10-bit panel. I'd like to know if Sony AX100 can rec in 10 bit. Thanks Zenes Petrusin June 21st, 2016, 12:59 PM No and never be. Cliff Totten June 21st, 2016, 06:13 PM Given the fact that it's a cousin to the X70, it probably "can"....but Sony will never allow it. ;-) Ron Evans June 21st, 2016, 07:04 PM If you record externally on something like the BM Video Assist in HD it likely does have 10bit 4:2:2 on the HDMI output like lots of Sony's. Ron Evans Cliff Totten June 21st, 2016, 10:28 PM Nah...Sony only uses 8 bit 4:2:2 on all their HDMI. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that Sony doesn't have one single camera in their entire fleet that has 10bit over HDMI. And,...again, I could be wrong but I think all their HDMI's for all camera are 1.4 and not 2.0. Noa Put June 22nd, 2016, 12:15 AM Not sure what advantage a 8bit or 10 bit output from a camera would have when displaying it on a tv? I thought this only has a benefit when grading? Also I think expecting a 10bit output from a consumer camera like the ax100 is a bit optimistic. Zenes Petrusin June 22nd, 2016, 08:12 AM Given the fact that it's a cousin to the X70, it probably "can"....but Sony will never allow it. ;-) Again NO, ax100 has other video cpu proccessor, no possible 10bit in any way. |
