I bought a fuzzy mic cover (Micover) to slip over my AT 875 short shotgun mic. Problem is that if I put on my wide angle lens a few of the hairs are in shot.

This is deadcat cover with LONG hair ... and wondering if I can trim back the hairs on the underside. I'd prefer not to have to mount the mic any farther back, or any higher using an additional mount.

Anyone have any tips out there?

I had this problem too so I took off the rubber sleeve from my rode WS6 and cut a couple of CM off it. I then re-glued the rubber ring back on:

I have been on TV Outside Broadcasts that have had the same problem some of the solutions have been a single wrap of electrical tape near the tip end of the windscreen to reduce the diameter enough not to get in shot, Rubber bands have been used also at the tip, also I have seen the foot end of a black woman stocking used over the entire windshield. The cut point is clamped into the microphone mount.
This actually doesn't look that bad altho the wind protection I assume be reduced somewhat.

Thanks guys good suggestions. I like the stocking idea ... and the rubber bands. Better than physically cutting the hair.
