View Full Version : Aftermarket mic holder?

The cheesy Sony mic holder does not swivel, and breaks easily. It's happened to four of us who each own an fs7.
Anyone have a line on a different mic holder, that could clamp on the tube, but also swivel?
Any option will be appreciated,

Also, my viewfinder has come loose from the monitor while shooting, sending the viewfinder crashing to the ground. Any solutions?
I guess Sony used the same cheap, junk accessories as on my fs100.
Love the cameras, but hate Sony's chinsy , cheap approach to things like mic holder and viewfinder.

Bruce: if you have a cheese plate on the camera top, this has worked well for me...

Thanks, Bill. Looks like it will do the trick,but sooo expensive.
I have a cheese plate on my fs100 (Berkey) but not on the fs7. Can you send me a link to the one you're using?
Thanks

I use this Rycote one. I put a little gaffer's tape around the mount and put it into the FS5's mic clip.

Bruce: spot on. I often use the price tag for that simple accessory as an example when talking to folks about the absurdly high price of TV gear.

I just have the Berkey cheese plates on my two F3s...I don't have an Fs-7. But Berkey makes one for that camera. Highly recommended accessory...not matter what the price. ;}

Bill,
I'll look into the Berkey for the fs7.
By the way, I needed a new audio bag for all of my stuff, and rather than pay 300 for an over priced product, I bought a nice, spacious sturdy bag at Home Depot for $49
