View Full Version : Dear Sony please read ax100
Terry Dennis March 17th, 2016, 08:14 AM for next firmware....
1. use the viewfinder eye and screen at same time as in bright light cannot see lcd so cant really adjust so have to keep closing lcd to look in eye then back again
2. make the zoom ring a lot faster . try zooming object 1m away then hills far in the distance far too many turns needed for close up and distance betterstill set an option
3. sort the playback out so it jumps to what you want to see instead of the x as so many times went back to beginning instead of select the clip
auto focus way to slow but refer to 2
my top 3 at this moment
Jim Stamos March 17th, 2016, 09:22 AM You put the hood man loupe on your lcd, you'll never use that tiny viewfinder.I've been using for years.very sharp and great diopter.fits the ax100 lcd perfectly
EX Kit Pro optics turns SONY EX Camcorder LCD screen into a viewfinder - HEXKP (On backorder - you may still order this product) in Camcorder Optics (http://hoodmanusa.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=HEXKP)
Paul Anderegg March 18th, 2016, 04:40 AM How about a shockless gain menu option? If you set gain to AUTO, then set the X70 custom button for EV shift, you can roll up or down in 3db increments, but it actually is smooth, no jumps, it's doing gain values in between. :-)

That's the benefit of AE shift. I run all my little Sony's in this mode all the time. You can fix shutter etc and have smooth very fast exposure control.

Paul Anderegg March 18th, 2016, 06:24 AM It's MUCH NEEDED for night shooting..........the only real control I use continuously is the damn gain, I leave the iris at f2.8. I switch from 1/60 to 1/30 for stationary shots, and Sony's decision to ADD 1/50 between 1/30 and 1/60 is irritating.......leave 1/50 for PAL mode!

Noa Put March 18th, 2016, 06:32 AM How about a shockless gain menu option?
The ax100 has a shockless gain control, I can set the f-stop at a fixed value and then control the iso with the small wheel.

Didn't even know the ax100 was pal/ntsc switchable? I"m shooting in pal country and mine also goes from 1/30 to 1/50 and 1/60.

I"m not such a fan of ev control, since the ax100 can control exposure smoothly then manually controlling it is the only option to secure you have the exposure right, with gain set to auto your camera is in control and it doesn't always know what it should be, it can work well under certain controlled situations but needs to be used with care.

No no no, you've got it wrong. It should read "Sony's decision to ADD 1/30 between 1/25 and 1/50 is irritating.......leave 1/30 for NTSC mode!" ;-)
Mark Watson March 23rd, 2016, 01:12 AM What I'd like to see is the 100Mbps rate made available to all recording modes, especially the 120fps 720P mode. And, secondly, make the high speed mode full HD resolution. The odds of any of this happening??? 13.7%
