This is a pretty cool video interview from VICE between Matthew Heineman and Roger Deakins discussing their overlapping themes from their Oscar nominated films Cartel Land and Sicario respectively. Cartel Land was primarily shot with a Canon C300 and it's great to see how well that camera still holds up and produces a great image. Deakins describes Cartel land as "beautifully shot" and that is some high praise for Heineman as well as the C300.

Very interesting look at the two movies, side by side. Both did fantastic work, obviously. The interview was a little bit sappy and gushing, but if you can get past the self-congratulatory reverence, they get into some meaty subject matter on how things were done on both films.

One tidbit... 500hrs of footage for a 90min doc. Whoa.
