From an 8K Sensor, such as the 8K Sensor in a Sony F65, it is possible, without interpolation (inventing data where it does not exist), to obtain 4K RGB 4:4:4.

In the 8K sensor, there are 4096 Red photosites and 4096 Green photosites on the first row of sensor data, and 4096 Green photosites and 4096 Blue Photosites on the next line.

Thus, using two rows of sensor data (individual photosites, each representing one color), you have enough data to create 4K RGB 4:4:4 video.

But, you do not have enough photosites in an 8K Bayer pattern sensor to create 8K RGB 4:4:4.

For many modern cameras, a single Bayer pattern sensor is used, as opposed to a 3 sensor design.

Now, to get to your question.

With the FS700, we could provide 2K RGB 4:4:4 from the 4K Bayer pattern sensor.

But, we cannot provide 4K RGB 4:4:4 from the 4K Bayer pattern sensor, without interpolating (filling in for the missing data).

Thus, we do not feel that it is desirable to create 4K RGB 4:4:4 from a 4K Bayer pattern sensor at this time.

We might do this one day, if enough of our users want us to do so, and if they understand that we have to fill in for the missing data.

Damn, missed the sale.
Guess I have to find a used 7Q. A new 7Q with the additional cost of license, battery plates etc just doesn't make financial sense. If it wasn't for the license cost or if it was significantly lower (I really just need the FS700 raw) I would have bought a new 7Q already.

Unfortunately used units don't show up around here very often...
