Hi folks,
I am back with a question to that I can't find an answer:
Anyone knows how to import files from the new FS5 to FCP X without Catalyst?
Thanks
Markus

Import from an SD card readers. I have the lowly x70 but it's basically the same codec and card structure. That works for me. FCPX 10.2.2.

Craig-
What is xvac-L like in your edit system?
Thanks in advance for any insights you care to share.
Be well.

That's interesting to read. Yesterday I got a copy of a card structure form that camera, copied on an SD and FCP X crashed....it seems to be a problem of my system.

Not an FS5, but for what it's worth, native use of the XAVC-L from a Sony X70 in FCPX requires:
-footage shot on a camera that's had the latest firmware update (not the same as the 4K update)
-latest version of FCPX
-latest update of Yosemite (or El Capitan)
...and of course the card structure - the entire Private folder and below from the memory card.

My workflow is SD card in FCPX, Create Camera Archive, Import from Camera Archive.
Sometimes it looks like it takes a minute or so for FCPX to see the card structure, properly joining clips. Import from Camera Archive is always spot on with immediate recognition of the structure.
I don't need to go inside any folders. I simply Camera Archive the entire card as is.
I'm only recording one format (frame rate/codec) per card.
Using a late 2013 6 Core MacPro. Handles the native XAVC-L without any issues.
