In case anyone's been considering Sugru vs other eyecup hacks, I gave it a shot yesterday and it works great. It could stand to be softer (perhaps by stretching some fabric on it?), but it works, comes on and off easily, and doesn't get in the way of the LCD screen.

I used 4 of the little starter packs, which is $22 and includes 4 white ones too, which I didn't use. Next time I would get more black packs and make it even bigger.

Make sure to put dishwashing soap over the RX10 eyepiece first, so the Sugru doesn't stick to it.
