We rented the Korean foreign film "Oasis" and the first thing we noticed was it played straight away with no English subtitles, not even permanently burned-in ones.
So we press the subtitle button... Prohibited User Operation. WHAT?
We pressed "Top Menu," no subtitle option in the menus.
And we're using a upscaling DVD player so HDMI has no Line 19 closed captioning support.
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!? LINE 19 IS OBSOLETE ON HDMI.
This is the worst mastered DVD in the world.
Edit: Oh, but if you default your PLAYER'S subtitle settings to remain on, it works... It shouldn't have to work this way.
