Today Sony has announced a new camera under the FS7 in their CineAlta line, the FS5. The FS5 has many of the same features that the FS7 has. Some of the biggest differences include the FS5 having an FS700-like slow-motion capability, it can record up to 240fps in camera at full HD but only for a 7 second buffer window. The FS5 records 4K in 4:2:0 8-bit Long-GOP at 100mbps. It records HD in 4:2:2 10-bit Long-GOP at 50mbps. Because it is using more compression it can record this video to SD cards. It also lacks a RAW output option, though a paid RAW upgrade is said to be coming in the future. The camera is smaller and lighter then the FS7. Sony is actively promoting its use on drones and gimbal systems.

This camera is selling for $5,599 for the body only. Sony is also packaging it in a kit with a servo-enabled photo lens, 18-105mm f/4. The kit is $6,099.

We're offering a $0 down, risk-free, pre-order system. If you're interested in the camera I encourage you to get your name on our list. We'll call you when a camera is available for you.

Place your $0 down pre-order here: Professional Video Equipment Sales | Portland, OR (http://store.provideoandtape.com/catalog/search?keyword=fs5)

We'll also have financing options from Sony Financial Services, including 0% interest options, coming soon.

Please consider pre-ordering a camera from a small, independant dealer. Often small dealers have a much better wait list to delivered cameras ratio then the big box stores do when a hot product is released.

Is this financing through sony?
Does the Portland dealer offer unconditional 30 day return policy with no restocking fee like BH does?

Thanks Mike for joining our list. I definitely appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. It really does mean a lot to me.

Hi Jim. The financing is through Sony Financial Services. We've been working with them as financing partners for over 5 years now. We have a great track record of success with them and, at this point, have the system down to make it as quick and easy as possible for our mutual customers.

We do not offer an "unconditional 30 day return policy with no restocking fee". In our 25 years of business here we've learned that customer services means different things to different people. For some, having that kind of 'Costco-like' return policy is a high priority. That's fine. If that's the case, we're probably not the best resource for you. We put a large focus on making sure customers are getting the right gear, the first time, so we don't have to worry as much about returns. We achieve this by answering any and all possible questions on the gear, regardless of the nature, up front and by making demo and evaluation equipment as accessible as possible.

Please let me know if there are any questions at all on the new FS5, the Sony financing process, or any other video equipment. Thanks for your time.
