Today Sony has announced a new camera under the FS7 in their CineAlta line, the FS5. The FS5 has many of the same features that the FS7 has. Some of the biggest differences include the FS5 having an FS700-like slow-motion capability, it can record up to 240fps in camera at full HD but only for a 7 second buffer window. The FS5 records 4K in 4:2:0 8-bit Long-GOP at 100mbps. It records HD in 4:2:2 10-bit Long-GOP at 50mbps. Because it is using more compression it can record this video to SD cards. It also lacks a RAW output option, though a paid RAW upgrade is said to be coming in the future. The camera is smaller and lighter then the FS7. Sony is actively promoting its use on drones and gimbal systems.
This camera is selling for $5,599 for the body only. Sony is also packaging it in a kit with a servo-enabled photo lens, 18-105mm f/4. The kit is $6,099.
We're offering a $0 down, risk-free, pre-order system. If you're interested in the camera I encourage you to get your name on our list. We'll call you when a camera is available for you.
Place your $0 down pre-order here: Professional Video Equipment Sales | Portland, OR (http://store.provideoandtape.com/catalog/search?keyword=fs5)
We'll also have financing options from Sony Financial Services, including 0% interest options, coming soon.
Please consider pre-ordering a camera from a small, independant dealer. Often small dealers have a much better wait list to delivered cameras ratio then the big box stores do when a hot product is released.
