I used to use a Nikon LS20 slide scanner quite a few years ago. Quite good with negatives but not that good with slides. As it stopped working some time ago I was wanting to start scanning some of my mine and late Dads slides. Any ideas of a good but not too expensive scanner. I am in the UK. I have looked at the Epsom 550 & the Canon 9000f. Nikon seemed to have stopped making them.

cheers

I'm by no means expert but I have

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual IV Film Scanner

maybe not the best but for me good enough results. I needed to hunt on the internet to find information to get it to work with windows 7. I have not yet tried it with windows 10 but am hopping the same solution will work.

One solution is to buy a used hi-quality scanner, spend the next week, month, year scanning all your slides, then sell the item.

Maybe a Hasselblad Flexlight. Pretty close to drum quality. If you would like to outsource that shoot me a PM and I can provide a contact for my wife who can do those on a Durst Sigma.
