Sorry if this was asked earlier but I can't find any info. The multiport seems really fast. Is it possible it's as fast as USB 3?

It is used for the extra contacts necessary for USB3. There's been limited documentation of the "MULTI" plug/jack, and from experience, it seems to have different implementations in different models. SOME accessories work with SOME MULTI-jack equipped cameras, and not others... RX Cybershots and "Handycams" have different pins enabled... Keep in mind that USB 3 on the computer side still typically uses the "old" rectangular cable end... who knows what Sony does with the cable/interface!? |
