Hi All,

Wondering if anyone here has been using this app. for converting Pro Res to DVD format. I've been using Media Encoder through PP CS6 so I can make DVD's in Encore and no matter what I do the DVD's all ways look like crap. My original footage is UHD 4K from my GH4 and edit on a 1080p timeline, export media using MPEG2 DVD encode. Anyway, was thinking about giving VCU a try so I can get the better quality from the DVD. Work flow would be exporting to Pro Res HQ and bring in to VCU and converting to DVD files. According to there site, it converts 30X faster and lossless quality. What do you all think?

Thanks - Salvatore

How are you viewing these dvd's.

If its on a computer use special dvd software.
A dvd played in a ordinary dvd player on a hdtv looks terrible
Therefor use a bd player or dvd player with upscaler.

If it says 30x faster and lossless: i dont know...

Hi,

I'm using a DVD player that upscales and a BD player however, I am seriously considering buying a BluRay burner soon.
I wanted to try a new encoder because I think Media Encoder just doesn't do a good job at encoding to DVD standards.

Thanks very much for your input,
Salvatore

Media Encoder is good, but there are better encoders out there.
I frameserve to TMPGenc for DVD and BD, alas windows only.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for your help.
I went ahead and purchased VideoConverter Ultimate from the App. Store and I'm totally disappointed. It can't even do 24p for the conversion of a MPEG2. Unfortunately, because I bought from the App. Store I can't get a refund so I'm stuck with it. I'm sure I'll find other uses for it. So now the only thing I can do is buy a BluRay burner to get the quality I want.

Thanks-Salvatore
