Hi All

I am currently editing using Premiere Pro/Adobe AE CS on a MacBook and experiencing painfully slow export times..

My specs are:
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3. OSX Version 10.9.5

I know in a perfect world I would have a more powerful computer to deal with this but for the time being I am hoping someone might have a suggestion on how I can speed up the export time slightly?

Also, towards the end of the year I will be hoping to lash out on a more powerful Mac - probably an iMac.. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should be aiming for to keep up with my editing demands?

You didn't mention what format your source and export are, nor the version of Premiere, so it's impossible to say if your slow exports are within what is to be expected.

Your computer is slow and underpowered, so you will never have great encoding times. There are some general practices that might help a little:

Keep it plugged in. On battery, often the CPU is crippled.
Use 2 or more disks.
If the GPU is compatible, make sure that you are using Mercury hardware acceleration.

Hi Diana,

It would be ideal if you could post a screen grab of the export window settings. Checking "Max Bit Depth" and "Max Render Quality" can add to render time and are not always beneficial to check.

Any effects/plug-ins added to the video? NeatVideo, Magic Bullet, etc? Those sometimes really increase render times.

Please share more info about workflow as Bill requested, plus screen shot if you can
