Hi All,

I can't seem to find a good answer to this.

RIght now my workflow is:

Shoot on Canon 6D --> Download clips to Hard Drive --> Run clips through batch list on MPEG Streamclip to convert to ProRes 422 --> Edit in FCP7.

My problem is, when shooting on multiple Canons, you sometimes get clips with the same filenames. Further, the IMG_ prefix is always the same, and no way to change this, unless maybe in Magic Lantern.

Any way I can batch/rename? Maybe at the same time as converting? I can't figure out if MPEG Streamclip will do it.

I use this to rename large amounts of files, it's free and very versatile.

There is a utility included with OSX called "Automator". When I bring the data off the cards, I re-name the files from IMG_1234.mov to IMG_1234_mo_dy_yr_hh_mm_ss.mov. That way you can tell not only what order they were shot in, but at what time of day (and what date). I have actually misplaced stuff, gone back in my calendar to see what date I shot a particular event, then recovered it by searching for it.
